Advanced HVAC Installation Enhances Climate Control for UK Pharmaceutical Research Facility

Newsome
Newsome has recently completed a full turnkey HVAC installation at a high-profile British pharmaceutical research company, reinforcing its position as a trusted technical partner for temperature and humidity control in regulated environments. Tasked with delivering a comprehensive climate control solution for a state-of-the-art research facility, Newsome provided full mechanical services, electrical installation, and commissioning of a sophisticated HVAC system tailored to the unique demands of pharmaceutical operations.
The installation supports a multi-room clean production area with strict requirements for temperature stability, air purity and controlled humidity. Working closely with the client’s engineering and compliance teams, Newsome engineered a custom-designed solution, combining energy efficiency with precise environmental performance.
The nature of the client’s research and development processes required close management of indoor air conditions, not only for regulatory compliance but to protect the integrity of sensitive materials and ongoing research activities. Newsome’s engineers designed and installed an advanced close control air handling unit system, with integrated dehumidification and HEPA filtration. This ensures temperature and relative humidity are maintained within narrow tolerances, and that air quality exceeds industry standards.
The system design also included a chilled water plant and associated distribution network to support cooling across several key zones within the facility, alongside heat recovery to reduce energy consumption.
Beyond the HVAC plant and ductwork, Newsome also delivered all associated mechanical and electrical works. This included installation of chilled water pipework, power supplies, control panels, and building management integration, ensuring a fully connected and intelligent environment. All works were carried out to a high standard, on time and within the agreed project schedule. Newsome managed the entire installation process from initial design to final commissioning, providing a seamless service for the client.
This project represents a further milestone in Newsome’s long-standing relationship with the life sciences sector. With temperature and humidity playing a critical role in pharmaceutical development, research, and manufacture, clients turn to Newsome for technical confidence and dependable performance.
Speaking about the installation, Richard Metcalfe commented:
“The client needed a solution that combined tight environmental control with long-term reliability and energy efficiency. Our in-house design and installation teams worked closely with the site to deliver a clean, compliant, and future-proof HVAC system that meets all operational needs.”
With increasing demand for specialist HVAC support in pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical and research settings, Newsome continues to invest in engineering expertise and high-spec hire and permanent installations to support the UK’s most innovative sectors.
