Autonomous Transport Visionary Recognized in The Manufacturer’s Top 100 List

David Keene, CEO of Aurrigo International plc

David Keene, the visionary behind Aurrigo International plc, a leading provider of autonomous transport technology solutions in the UK, has achieved a remarkable feat by being named in The Manufacturer’s Top 100 list of manufacturing professionals for the third time. Judges praised Keene for his outstanding leadership and unwavering passion for engineering, particularly in the field of autonomous vehicles, where Aurrigo’s groundbreaking solutions have revolutionized “first and last mile” transport and made significant strides in the aviation sector.

The recognition comes as a crowning achievement in a momentous year for the accomplished engineer. Aurrigo International, which Keene co-founded with his brother Graham three decades ago, successfully listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) and recently secured a groundbreaking partnership deal to test its autonomous luggage dollies at Changi Airport in Singapore.

In addition to his role at Aurrigo, Keene serves as a Visiting Professor at Coventry University, contributing his expertise to the next generation of engineers. Reflecting on the honour, he expressed his gratitude and emphasized the importance of promoting engineering to inspire the upcoming generation of innovators.

“It is such an honour to be included in the Top 100, especially when you consider the diverse and exciting talent that I’m among – spanning pretty much every engineering discipline you can imagine,” said Keene. “This honour is for all the team at Aurrigo. We are continually pushing the boundaries when it comes to autonomous technology, and this is only possible thanks to the expertise and passion of our employees.”

Aurrigo International, recently augmented by the acquisition of GB Wiring Systems, is a global company with offices in Coventry, North America, Australia, and Singapore. With its Advanced Engineering Centre based in Coventry, the company employs 93 people and has experienced remarkable growth following its successful IPO, raising £8 million last September. The company’s revenues reached £5.3 million for the year ending December 31st, and it has created over 30 new jobs, with plans to expand the workforce to over 100 employees for the first time in its history.

The Manufacturer Top 100, now in its 10th year, celebrates the outstanding achievements of professionals in UK manufacturing. The prestigious list acknowledges their contributions to key areas such as Net Zero, Digital Transformation, Innovation, and Leadership. It also shines a spotlight on Unsung Heroes, Sector Activists, and Young Pioneers who are making a substantial impact on the industry, exceeding expectations relative to their experience and age.

David Keene’s inclusion in The Manufacturer’s Top 100 serves as a testament to his relentless dedication to advancing autonomous transport technology and propelling the industry forward. With his innovative solutions and unwavering commitment, Keene continues to shape the future of transportation, inspiring others and leaving an indelible mark on the field of engineering.
