Beard Construction Reports Record Growth and Makes Charitable Contributions
Fraser Johns - Beard company day 2026
Beard, a family-owned construction company, has announced a record year of growth, benefiting customers, charities, and employees alike. On 17 March 2026, the firm revealed its impressive financial results for the year ending 31 December 2025, reporting a turnover increase of 16% to £230 million and profits of £9 million.
In a commendable move, shareholders opted to donate half of the annual profits to the Oxfordshire Community Foundation and the Wiltshire & Swindon Community Foundation, rather than increasing dividend payouts. These contributions are set to positively impact the lives of thousands within the Beard trading area.
The company’s robust performance was driven by the successful completion of 62 projects across its offices in Bristol, Guildford, Oxford, Southampton, and Swindon. Beard also achieved significant success through frameworks and direct awards, alongside improvements in efficiency and collaboration with customers who align with the company’s values.
Fraser Johns, Finance Director, stated: “Our ethos of prompt and faultless delivery, alongside a continued focus on getting the basics right have laid the foundations for the strongest three-year period in the company’s history. During this time, we have expanded our presence across all regions, particularly in Southampton where our newest office opened in 2024. Our special projects division – comprising work up to £2 million in value – continues to be a key contributor to our growth and success.”
Fraser added, “Our pipeline of work is healthy, which stands us in good stead for the more competitive conditions we anticipate as we move further into 2026. Our ambitions for the year ahead remain strong with a continued focus on supporting our people, supply chain and customers, who are core to our continued success.”
In light of the firm’s ongoing success, Beard made 27 internal promotions and increased its workforce by 5.35%, bringing the total number of employees to 354 in 2025. The company is now supporting a record number of apprentices, degree apprentices, construction trainees, and T-Level students, with over 38 young professionals currently employed, representing approximately 11% of Beard’s workforce.
In 2025, Beard delivered £45 million in social value across 27 completed projects, with 94% of its spending directed towards micro, small, and medium enterprises. The firm’s employees raised more than £130,000 for five charities and collaborated with 66 educational partners, reaching over 19,000 students and young people.
Beard’s commitment to delivering exceptional projects across the South of England remained central to its operations in 2025. Notable projects included:
- The prestigious £7.5 million Holland Cooper headquarters in Cheltenham.
- An £11.8 million state-of-the-art Porsche dealership for Dick Lovett in Bristol.
- The £9.6 million African Forest at Bristol Zoo, creating a new habitat for gorillas, crocodiles, and mangabeys.
- A £7.1 million VIP lounge for FlexJet at Farnborough Airport.
- A £5.1 million renovation of the historic Hilsea Lido in Portsmouth.
Additionally, Beard made significant progress on a £17 million new basement library and archive space for Hertford College, Oxford; began construction on a new Neolithic visitor and learning centre at Stonehenge; and refurbished accommodation and communal areas at Kitchener Hall for the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, valued at £32 million.
The company’s dedication to health, safety, and wellbeing was recognised with its twelfth consecutive Gold Award from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and the President’s Award for the third consecutive year in 2025. Beard also retained its Investors in People Gold status and remains a bronze signatory of the Fair Payment Code, joining a select group of 527 businesses nationwide committed to good payment practices.
