Breezemove, a property technology company aiming to revolutionise the home-moving process, has secured a £160,000 investment from GC Angels. This funding will support the firm’s expansion into Manchester and enhance its technology platform.
Founded in 2022 by property developer and entrepreneur Phil Melia, Breezemove was designed to tackle inefficiencies in the UK property market. Unlike conventional platforms that mainly track transaction milestones, Breezemove oversees the entire property transaction value chain. This approach increases transparency and accountability for estate agents, solicitors, and buyers, streamlining communication and enabling faster, more confident moves.
Currently operating in Birmingham and Liverpool, Breezemove has already made a significant impact by halving transaction times and reducing the risk of property sales falling through by over 90%. These improvements address some of the most persistent challenges in the property sector.
The investment arrives amid growing pressures on the UK housing market. Industry data reveals that the average time to sell a home has reached a nine-year peak, with unsold property backlogs rising by 26%. As market conditions become more complex and uncertain, technology that enhances accountability and accelerates transactions is increasingly vital.
GC Angels’ funding will provide Breezemove with working capital to advance product development, strengthen its technology capabilities, and accelerate its growth strategy as it targets new UK markets. The investment follows Breezemove’s participation in GC Angels’ inaugural Venture Forward accelerator programme, supported by Innovate UK, which assists underrepresented founders in the North preparing for institutional funding rounds.
This latest funding round is part of an ongoing £750,000 fundraising effort, which includes previous backing from FSE Capital in 2023 and support from other angel investors.
Breezemove currently employs eight staff and plans to expand significantly, particularly in sales and technology roles. The company is also seeking to recruit specialist data scientists and product experts to enhance its platform and data-driven capabilities.
Having begun onboarding estate agents in Greater Manchester, Breezemove aims to extend its reach to Leeds, London, and Bristol as it scales nationally.
Phil Melia, founder and CEO of Breezemove, said: “Having spent more than a decade in property development, I experienced first-hand the frustrations and inefficiencies that exist throughout the home-moving process. We launched Breezemove to bring greater accountability, transparency and efficiency to every stage of the transaction journey.”
He added: “The Venture Forward programme really helped us to understand what was required when undergoing an institutional funding round, and was ultimately invaluable when we were raising funds. This investment from GC Angels now gives us the capital we need to continue enhancing our technology and accelerating our growth. We’ve already seen strong adoption across Birmingham, Liverpool and now Manchester, and we’re excited to build on that momentum as we expand into new regions.”
Ranvir Singh, Investment Manager at GC Angels, commented: “The property transaction process is extremely complex and fragmented. Breezemove has developed an innovative solution that addresses these challenges by improving accountability and transparency across the entire transaction chain.
“With transaction timelines increasing across the market and consumers facing greater uncertainty throughout the home-moving process, solutions that can improve efficiency and reduce fall-through rates have a significant role to play in the future of the sector.
“Phil and the team have combined deep sector expertise with a clear vision for how technology can modernise the home-moving experience. This was clear throughout our first Venture Forward programme, and it’s why we’re so excited to now be supporting Breezemove as it scales its platform, expands into new markets and continues to deliver meaningful improvements for property professionals and consumers alike.”
