Energy Efficiency to Take Centre Stage at Homebuilding & Renovating Show in Edinburgh this October
Homeowners across Scotland aiming to enhance their properties’ warmth, energy efficiency, and running costs can seek expert guidance at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show, scheduled for 3 and 4 October 2026 at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh.
This year’s event places a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, featuring specialists and exhibitors ready to assist visitors in understanding a broad range of topics including heating systems, heat pumps, insulation, ventilation, solar power, battery storage, and smart home technologies. Given the variety of options available, the show aims to help homeowners identify the most suitable solutions for their individual properties before making significant financial commitments.
David Hilton, the show’s Heating and Eco Expert, will lead a session titled “Upgrading Your Home Heating: boiler, heat pump or both?”. Hilton brings over 35 years of industry experience and holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Architecture. His presentation will address the decisions homeowners face when upgrading heating systems and the critical considerations involved.
Additional presentations include “Heat Pumps Explained: Facts, Myths and Real World Comfort” by Daikin UK and “Heat Pump Sizing & System Design Simplified” from IMS Heat Pumps, providing visitors with detailed insights into heat pump technology.
The event will also cover topics beyond heating. Sessions such as “Building Airtight, Ventilate Right” and “The Ultimate MVHR Guide: Avoiding the Industry’s Mistakes” will discuss how insulation, airtightness, and ventilation combine to create comfortable, energy-efficient homes. Owners of older Scottish properties can attend “Heritage Meets Performance: Transforming Historic Buildings for a More Energy Efficient Future” to learn how to improve energy efficiency while respecting the unique requirements of traditional buildings.
Throughout the two-day show, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with specialist suppliers and explore the latest advancements in home energy technology. Exhibitors focusing on energy solutions include IMS Heat Pumps, Source Energy Heat Pumps Scotland, Daikin, Octopus Energy, and Ceiba Renewables, covering areas such as heat pumps, solar energy, and battery storage.
Visitors can also benefit from free 15-minute one-on-one consultations with experts at the Advice Centre, alongside seminars and masterclasses, all included with admission.
The Homebuilding & Renovating Show gathers hundreds of leading brands and thousands of products for anyone involved in building, renovating, extending, or improving their home. Following the Edinburgh event on 3 and 4 October 2026, the show will continue in Glasgow on 22 and 23 May 2027.
