Linwood Unveils NoMo: A Merino Wool Velvet Alternative to Mohair
NoMo – Merino Wool Velvet Armchair in Pine, Linwood
Linwood has introduced NoMo, a new velvet fabric crafted entirely from 100% Merino wool, offering a refined alternative to traditional mohair velvet. Woven in Italy, NoMo delivers a soft, lustrous pile that mirrors the luxurious texture and depth typically associated with mohair, but utilises a different natural fibre.
The collection features a sophisticated range of colours, spanning subtle neutrals and earthy greens to deep reds and elegant blues. Designed for thoughtful interiors, these carefully selected shades highlight the velvet’s dynamic lustre, enhancing the depth of upholstered furniture and adding softness to curtains.
NoMo combines its luxurious appearance with practical benefits. The fabric is naturally flame-retardant without the need for added fire-retardant chemicals, complying with UK fire safety standards for both domestic and contract upholstery. It is also machine washable and treated with a PFAS-free water-repellent finish to guard against everyday spills.
Linwood emphasises responsible production with NoMo’s wool certified under the Responsible Wool Standard, which promotes animal welfare, responsible land management, and traceability. Additionally, the yarn carries OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, confirming it has been independently tested for harmful substances.
Beyond the fabric itself, Linwood supports the UK’s first goat welfare charity, Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats, reflecting the company’s commitment to ethical practices.
As a British brand, Linwood integrates creativity and innovation into its work, drawing inspiration from classic English style infused with a contemporary spirit. The company produces exclusive collections of fabrics, wallpapers, and cushions characterised by personality and charm. By blending traditional and new materials, Linwood continuously develops sustainable and ecologically responsible fabrics that balance beauty with practicality.
Linwood’s artistic vision is diverse, avoiding a singular brand aesthetic. Each collection, whether featuring delicate small-scale prints, quintessential English botanicals, informal plain linens, or rich printed velvets, aims to captivate and delight, bringing a distinctive and playful style to a variety of interior settings.
