Qatar Industrial Plant Achieves 97% Water Reclamation with ByWater Services System
An industrial facility in Qatar has successfully implemented a water reclamation system developed by ByWater Services, enabling it to recover 97% of the water used in its equipment-cleaning operations.
The client, which specialises in cleaning oily and greasy machinery, faced significant challenges due to the large volumes of water required and the contaminated wastewater generated. This wastewater necessitated advanced treatment before it could be safely reused or disposed of.
Key issues prompting the project included the high cost of fresh water in Qatar, largely due to desalination and treatment processes, as well as operational inefficiencies where only a small fraction of water was being recycled. Additionally, the facility was under pressure to reduce its environmental impact by minimising water waste and complying with local wastewater disposal regulations.
ByWater Services addressed these challenges by designing and installing a bespoke water reclamation system tailored to the existing plant infrastructure. This system treats contaminated wash water, allowing it to be reused within the cleaning process and significantly reducing reliance on fresh water supplies. The installation was completed with minimal disruption to the facility’s daily operations.

Following the system’s integration, the client has recorded a 97% water reclamation rate, resulting in reduced fresh water demand and lower volumes of wastewater requiring treatment and disposal.
