String Furniture, a renowned name in Scandinavian design since 1949, has announced its participation in Clerkenwell Design Week 2026, scheduled for 19th – 21st May 2026. The Swedish design leader will present a curated exhibition featuring both classic designs and new collections, emphasising its commitment to modular and timeless design at one of London’s premier design festivals.

On Wednesday, 20th May, String Furniture will host a panel discussion at its exhibition stand located in the Great Hall at Old Sessions House. The session, titled “Newness Reconfigured,” will be led by Johanna Agerman Ross, founder of Disegno and current chief curator at the Design Museum. This discussion will include prominent figures from architecture and design, focusing on the potential of modularity and adaptable systems that can evolve with spaces, enabling renewal without complete replacement.

Visitors can find String Furniture at the Great Hall, Old Sessions House (22 Clerkenwell Grn, London EC1R 0NA). The exhibition will showcase a selection of new launches for 2026 alongside core collections, including the iconic String System in a new Dark Oak & Brown colourway, the Pira floor-to-ceiling shelving system, and the new Display Cabinet and Center Center by Form Us With Love, designed for modern office environments. An exclusive preview of the new Museum Trolley and Pedestal by TAF Studio will also be presented to the UK design audience.

Bo Hellberg, Chief Marketing Officer at String Furniture, stated, “String Furniture has always been driven by the belief that good design is instantly recognisable, has an ingenious construction, makes a real difference to people’s lives – and is ideally made in Sweden! We’re thrilled to be exhibiting at Clerkenwell Design Week for the second time. We’ll be showcasing parts of our range that we think represent our beliefs well, like the new String System in Dark Oak & Brown, Pira, originally from 1954, Centre Centre by FUWL and Museum by TAF Studio. All of them with timeless designs that cater to the evolving needs of modern spaces, both in the workplace and at home.”

The Museum Trolley and Pedestal, designed by TAF Studio, will officially launch in June 2026. These new additions to the Museum Collection continue the collection’s hallmark of functional design and robust construction, seamlessly combining flexibility with a refined Scandinavian aesthetic. TAF Studio, founded by Gabriella Lenke and Mattias Ståhlbom, originally designed the Museum Collection for Sweden’s National Museum of Fine Arts, which reopened in 2018. The collection has since expanded to include five editions, including the Museum Shelf, Sidetable, Candle Holder, Trolley, and Pedestal.

In 2026, String Furniture will also introduce a refined material and colour to its iconic String System and Pocket: Dark Oak paired with Dark Brown panels. This new palette offers a warm, sophisticated expression that reflects the brand’s design heritage.

Center Center, designed by Stockholm-based architectural studio Form Us With Love, is tailored for today’s dynamic workspaces. This versatile modular system serves as a flexible storage solution for offices, balancing aesthetics with functionality through its minimalist design and adaptable form.

Additionally, String Furniture will showcase the Pira Display Cabinet, a contemporary take on the original design by Olle Pira from the 1950s. Reimagined by architect Anna von Schewen and industrial designer Björn Dahlström, Pira functions as a sculptural, freestanding room divider that combines architectural design with functional elegance. The Display Cabinet features a glass shelf and offers either double-sided or single-sided sliding doors, suitable for free-standing or wall-mounted configurations, and is available in White Oak or Walnut with options for fluted or clear glass.

Join String Furniture for a drinks reception and discussion on “Newness Reconfigured” on Wednesday, 20th May 2026, from 5 pm to 7 pm. The event will feature Ab Rogers, Tola Ojuolape, and Lisl du Toit of Universal Design Studio, in a conversation led by Johanna Agerman Ross. The discussion will delve into the potential of modularity and adaptable systems that can change and adapt to spaces, allowing for renewal without the need for wholesale replacement.
