Striped Wallpaper Makes a Comeback, With a Twist
As the popularity of striped home decor surges, one wallpaper designer is putting a unique spin on the classic pattern. Fiona Howard, the founder of the eponymous wallpaper brand Fiona Howard Wallpapers, has introduced a new design called “Sway” that offers a fresh take on traditional stripes.
According to data from Pinterest, interest in “Striped Wallpaper” has increased by 30 per cent over the last month, reflecting a growing consumer appetite for striped homewares. Howard recognized this trend and sought to create a design that would capture the essence of stripes while adding a modern twist.
“Stripes are the ultimate chameleon of design,” said Howard. “They can be bold and graphic, or subtle and understated. Their versatility means they can elevate any space, from a minimalist modern home to a classic traditional interior.”
Sway, Howard’s latest creation features a vertical stripe pattern with an undulating, oscillating design that adds movement and depth as it climbs the wall. “Sway allowed me to offer a more playful, graphic take showing a different side to the trend,” she explained.
Designed to complement a wide range of interior schemes, from rustic country settings to Mid-Century-inspired homes, Sway is available in five colourways. Howard has combined both bold, attention-grabbing shades and more subtle contrasts, ensuring that there is a version suitable for every home.
To further enhance the versatility of the design, a complementary border is also available, transforming the vertical pattern into a horizontal one, which can help make spaces feel more elongated.
Sway is now available for purchase from Fiona Howard Wallpapers, priced at £144 per roll.
As the demand for striped wallpaper continues to rise, Howard’s innovative take on the trend is poised to capture the attention of design enthusiasts seeking a fresh and playful twist on a classic pattern.
