UK and Ireland Host Over 4,500 Coworking Spaces as of Q1 2026

As of the first quarter of 2026, the UK and Ireland boast a combined total of 4,550 coworking spaces, with 4,270 located within the UK, according to the latest State of the Coworking Industry Report from CoworkingCafe, based on proprietary data from April 2026. This comprehensive report offers insights into the flexible workspace landscape, detailing supply at national, capital, and city levels, while identifying key operators and median pricing for various membership options.
The UK is home to the majority of these coworking spaces, with England leading at 3,729, followed by Scotland with 311, Wales with 131, and Northern Ireland with 99. Greater London stands out as the primary hub, housing 1,209 coworking spaces, which accounts for nearly 30% of the UK’s total supply. Manchester follows as the strongest regional market with 123 spaces, while Glasgow has 72. Other notable cities include Birmingham with 68, Bristol and Leeds each with 64, and Edinburgh with 62. Cardiff and Belfast contribute 43 and 45 spaces, respectively.
In terms of pricing, the national median for monthly memberships is ÂŁ180, though this figure varies significantly across different markets. For instance, Oxford has the highest median membership cost at ÂŁ244, while Liverpool and Aberdeen offer more affordable options at ÂŁ139. Day passes have a national median price of ÂŁ25, with London, Oxford, and Belfast charging ÂŁ30, and Edinburgh at ÂŁ33. Conversely, Aberdeen is the most economical major hub with day passes priced at ÂŁ18. Virtual office subscriptions average ÂŁ115 per month, peaking at ÂŁ175 in Liverpool and dropping to ÂŁ35 in Bristol and Cardiff. Meeting room rentals have a median price of ÂŁ30 per hour nationally, with London leading at ÂŁ52, compared to Nottingham’s ÂŁ16.
Regus is the dominant player in the UK coworking sector, operating 234 locations nationwide, including 79 in the top coworking markets. Following Regus, Fora has 62 locations, primarily in London, while Bruntwood operates 51, Workspace Group has 47, and Spaces runs 44 locations. This highlights the increasing influence of established networks in shaping the coworking supply.
In Ireland, the coworking landscape features 280 spaces, with Dublin accounting for 128, nearly half of the total. The national median pricing for memberships in Ireland is €205 per month, with day passes averaging €25, virtual offices at €79 per month, and meeting rooms priced at €40 per hour. Dublin generally commands higher rates across most services.
In Dublin, Pembr leads the market with 20 locations, followed by Iconic Offices with 14 and Regus with 10, demonstrating the competitive nature of the coworking sector in Ireland.
