Whole Foods Market Expands in London with Six New Stores by June 2026

Whole Foods Market has revealed plans to launch six new stores in London by June 2026, significantly enhancing its presence in the UK. This announcement follows the retailer’s recent debut of its first UK location in over a decade, which opened in March 2025 on King’s Road, spanning 21,000 square feet.

The new stores will be strategically located across various London neighbourhoods, including Angel, Liverpool Street, Notting Hill Gate, Wood Wharf (Canary Wharf), Monument, and St. James’s. This expansion will double Whole Foods Market’s UK store count to twelve.

The anticipated opening dates for the new locations are as follows:

  • Angel, The Mall, 359 Upper Street, London N1 0PD – 2 April 2026
  • Liverpool Street, Unit 4b-5, Blomfield Street, London EC2M 7BD – 23 April 2026
  • Notting Hill Gate, 66-74 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3HT – 14 May 2026
  • Wood Wharf, 4 Water Street, Wood Wharf, London E14 5GX – 28 May 2026
  • Monument, Unit 1, 20 Gracechurch Street, London EC3V 0BG – 4 June 2026
  • St. James, 57 Victoria Street, London SW1P 2HX – 11 June 2026

Jason Buechel, Vice President of Amazon’s Worldwide Grocery Stores and CEO of Whole Foods Market, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “We’re happy to be expanding Whole Foods Market’s physical store presence in the U.K., allowing us to reach more customers with our uncompromising quality standards and carefully curated selection of natural and organic products.” He added that each new store aims to provide responsibly sourced, high-quality food to communities that value sustainability.

The new stores will feature a diverse range of products, including:

  • A selection of certified organic and conventional produce.
  • Prepared food options such as salads, sandwiches, and seasonal dishes, including Spanish-style free-range chicken and Teriyaki salmon.
  • A variety of meat and seafood items, all animal-welfare certified, with convenient grab-and-go offerings.
  • A bakery department providing fresh bread daily, alongside gluten and dairy-free options.
  • A wellness and beauty section stocked with supplements and skincare products.
  • A speciality department showcasing artisan cheeses and charcuterie, as well as a premium selection of beers, wines, and spirits.
  • Exclusive products, including a range of beverages and snacks.

Jade Hoai, Executive Leader of Operations for Whole Foods Market UK, stated, “We are thrilled to bring Whole Foods Market to more neighbourhoods in London. We look forward to opening our doors to these wonderful communities, and to providing great customer service and an excellent product assortment that meets our high-quality standards.”

To commemorate the store openings, Whole Foods Market will donate funds to local nonprofit organisations such as FoodCycle, All Saints Food Bank, Independent Food Aid Network, and Family Action Food Clubs. Additionally, during the openings at Angel and Wood Wharf, the company will provide food donations to The Felix Project, which works to reduce food waste and support the local community.

The new locations will also introduce Whole Foods Market’s Daily Shop format, which was first launched in New York City in 2024. This innovative store design is tailored to maximise high-quality offerings in spaces under 14,000 square feet, with the new London stores ranging from approximately 3,300 to 10,000 square feet.

Whole Foods Market maintains stringent quality standards across all its products, prohibiting hydrogenated fats, high-fructose corn syrup, and over 300 artificial ingredients. Furthermore, all beauty and body care items must comply with the company’s strict body care standards, which exclude more than 240 commonly used harmful ingredients.
