Wynne Construction has relaunched its Team-Approved Supply Chain Development programme in South Wales, aiming to support subcontractors with training, health and safety, and sustainability. The initiative includes workshops addressing industry challenges and is backed by partners such as Business Wales and Cardiff Council to enhance skills and innovation in the regional construction sector. Welsh supply chain partners are being offered the opportunity to advance their growth aspirations and foster innovation thanks to a firm’s revamped initiative.

Wynne Construction has updated its Team-Approved Supply Chain (TASC) Development programme and launched the scheme in South Wales, supporting subcontractors following an increase in schemes across the region.

The Denbighshire-headquartered company held its inaugural event and covered a range of topics including skills and training, health and safety, net zero, and carbon reduction.

Social value, the Building Safety Act, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) were also on the agenda as Wynne Construction set out to empower its supply chain partners.

Following the session held at the ICC in Newport, the family-owned company will hold workshops on its sites across Wales to delve deeper into solving challenges faced by businesses in the industry.

Wynne Construction’s pre-construction director, Andy Garner said: “The launch was a great success. It was well attended and there was much enthusiasm from everyone who is starting this journey with us.

“We look forward to hosting our series of interactive workshops to share our expert knowledge, best practice, and fresh ideas.”

The event was supported by the firm’s business partners, including Business Wales, which covered carbon reduction support, the Onsite Construction Academy from Cardiff Council, and CITB Cymru. These organisations will also support the upcoming workshops.

Wynne Construction’s current schemes include the £25m Sunnyside Wellness Village project consisting of a medical centre and 59 homes in Bridgend, the £12.2m Pontllanfraith Centre for Vulnerable Learners in Caerphilly, and the £26m new leisure and wellbeing development in Newport.

Andy added: “We have a long history of supporting our supply chain partners and ensuring the impact of our work is felt beyond the physical build.

“Launching the TASC programme allows our subcontractors to have a formalised process to follow and gives us the opportunity to forge stronger relationships and have truly meaningful conversations about the challenges encountered.

“We’re passionate about ensuring the entire industry is in the best position possible to succeed and view TASC as a critical step in our journey to achieving this.”

Wynne Construction operates throughout Wales and the North West of England, and regularly leads on projects in sectors including education, social housing, healthcare, and sport and leisure.

The company is also on the North Wales Construction Partnership (NWCP), Pagabo’s Medium Works Framework, the South-East and mid-Wales Collaborative Construction Framework (SEWSCAP3) and the South West Wales Regional Contractors Framework (SSWRCF).
