Brintons, the renowned heritage carpet manufacturer, has introduced Studio Play, a fresh commercial carpet collection designed to meet the rigorous demands of busy contract settings. Crafted through a series of internal creative workshops, the range delivers an expressive, artisan look combined with the durability required for hospitality, retail, and corporate interiors.
Jodie Hatton, Design Manager at Brintons, highlighted the expertise behind the collection: “We have an incredibly experienced design team, and with that experience comes deep knowledge of our craft. Studio Play gives us the opportunity to pause, experiment and work without pressure. It’s been rewarding to see the team embrace that freedom and turn it into a collection that feels both expressive and relevant.”
The first phase, called Series One: Acrylic Ink Exploration, involved the design team working freely with fluid acrylic inks. This session was deliberately conducted without a formal brief, fostering an open environment where designers could experiment, layer, and respond instinctively. The outcome was a series of expressive and unexpected designs rich in depth, gesture, and atmosphere.
Looking ahead, Studio Play will expand in autumn 2026 with Series Two, which will focus on Gelli printing. This technique emphasises texture, layering, and the element of surprise. Each workshop in this series will continue the philosophy established in Series One: prioritising creation before design.
Studio Play carpets are engineered from a robust blend of 80% wool and 20% nylon yarn, combining bold artistic expression with commercial-grade performance. This premium composition provides exceptional durability, stain resistance, and longevity—qualities essential for high-traffic commercial and hospitality environments—while preserving the natural beauty and comfort of wool.
Featuring layered patterns, rich textures, and a blend of heritage and contemporary influences, Studio Play offers a sophisticated and artistic appeal suited to a variety of commercial interiors where comfort and style are key.
