CRC Evans x Monter - Snow Project

CRC Evans and Monter Strojarske Montaže d.d. have joined forces to develop the inaugural Hydrogen Valley infrastructure project in Europe, marking a significant advancement in the continent’s energy transition.

This strategic partnership aims to establish a pioneering cross-border hydrogen transport network within the European North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV), connecting regions across Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia. The project encompasses over 200 kilometres of pipeline, divided into three major sections, each engineered to accommodate hydrogen transport, with certain segments designed to carry up to 100 per cent hydrogen in the future.

The hydrogen-ready pipeline will serve as a critical backbone for the emerging European hydrogen economy, enhancing interconnections between national energy markets and supporting the continent’s shift towards sustainable energy systems. Completion and full operational status of all three phases are anticipated by the end of 2026.

CRC Evans, recognised globally for its expertise in speciality welding, coating, and project services for energy infrastructure, brings advanced welding technologies essential for meeting stringent hydrogen standards. Monter, a leading regional contractor in pipeline construction, contributes its extensive experience to the project’s delivery.

Henk de Graaf, Director at CRC Evans, commented: “This project represents a significant milestone not only for CRC but for Europe’s wider energy transition. Supporting the development of the first European Hydrogen Valley underscores our commitment to diversifying our capabilities and advancing technologies critical for future energy systems.” He added, “By working alongside Monter, we are solving the challenges of hydrogen transportation and contributing to infrastructure that will strengthen Europe’s energy resilience and enable the safe, reliable transport of hydrogen at scale.”

Monter’s CEO, Stjepan Novak, highlighted the value of the collaboration: “Our collaboration with CRC Evans has been instrumental to the success of this project. Over the years, they’ve been the perfect partner, always bringing world-class expertise in welding technologies and supporting us in meeting the highest standards, which are required for infrastructure plans of this scale.” He further stated, “I believe that strategic partnerships like this are instrumental in advancing the energy sector across Europe, setting higher standards for quality, safety and innovation, and creating a strong foundation for the next generation of hydrogen projects.”

With a history spanning more than 90 years, CRC Evans continues to expand its global footprint, operating in over 100 countries and delivering specialised welding and coating solutions across sectors including oil and gas, renewables, nuclear, hydrogen, carbon capture, and critical infrastructure.

The NAHV project represents a landmark in European energy infrastructure, positioning the region at the forefront of hydrogen transport and reinforcing the continent’s commitment to a sustainable energy future.
