EDGE Completes £26.5 Million Endoscopy Unit at Lincoln County Hospital
EDGE, a prominent property and construction consultancy, has finalised the construction of a £26.5 million endoscopy unit at Lincoln County Hospital. This newly built facility spans 1,972 square metres and is designed specifically for outpatient services.
The Lincoln Endoscopy Unit features four procedure rooms with the infrastructure to add two more in the future. It also includes 12 dedicated preparation and recovery pods to support patient care. The project was delivered through the NHS ProCure23 Framework to meet the rising demand for diagnostic services within the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Throughout the development, EDGE provided NEC4 project management, supervision, design coordination, programme support, and healthcare planning. Situated adjacent to the main hospital, the standalone unit enhances patient privacy and dignity while streamlining the patient journey.
Additional facilities within the unit comprise a patient interview room, decontamination areas, accessible drop-off points, booking and administrative workspaces, extensive staff welfare amenities, and a live training suite aimed at workforce development and clinical education.
Future-proofed to align with the Trust’s long-term healthcare objectives, the unit is expected to significantly boost diagnostic throughput, reduce waiting times, and facilitate earlier diagnosis and treatment for patients across the region.
The scheme has attained BREEAM Excellent certification and Secured by Design Gold accreditation, reflecting its high-quality standards.

EDGE managed the project from its Nottingham office, with a team including Nev Bould, Dan Tofan, Carl Smith, Peter Bradwell, Joe Burns, Paula Atkin, and Simon Brown.
This endoscopy unit adds to EDGE’s expanding portfolio of major healthcare projects, which includes the National Rehabilitation Centre in Nottingham, Cambridge Children’s Hospital, and two new adult acute care units for Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The project team also comprised architect P+HS, structural engineers Price & Myers, M&E partner Derry Building Services, and contractor Bowman + Kirkland.
