Mac Mic Land has announced its intention to significantly expand its UK operations, confirming Steve Clegg as the new Chief Executive Officer. The strategic land company aims to increase its portfolio from 62 to 85 sites over the next six months, with the potential to deliver more than 35,000 homes.

Currently, Mac Mic Land’s sites are primarily located in Scotland’s Central Belt, South West, and South East England. The company is now looking to broaden its reach into the North West and Midlands while also enhancing its activities in existing regions.

With offices in London, Glasgow, and Bristol, the team is set to grow further, including the recent appointments of Steve and John-Rhys Davies, who will serve as Planning Manager in the South West region. Additional hires are planned to support the company’s broader growth strategy.

Steve stated: “As Mac Mic Land steps into a new era, we have ambitious plans for growth across the North, Midlands and East of England, as well as growing our existing portfolio across the UK. We continue to look at areas with growing populations and good employment prospects, places where people need quality, well-designed homes to provide, well-connected and sustainable communities.”

He emphasised the company’s commitment to balancing commercial success with purposeful placemaking, aiming to create a lasting legacy that landowners can be proud of.

On his appointment, Steve expressed enthusiasm for the role, saying: “With the backing of more than 100 years of experience of the Mactaggart and Mickel brand, I am truly excited about this opportunity and I look forward to building on the successes the team has already achieved.”

Steve joins the executive board of Mac Mic Land, which includes fourth-generation family members of the Mickel family, such as Senior Director Andrew Mickel and Director Ross Mickel. David Gaffney, who has served as interim CEO since October 2025, will remain on the board as a Senior Advisor.

Andrew remarked: “The evolution of the business sees our continued focus on providing landowners with guidance, certainty, and a clear route to maximising the value of their land. We’ve a genuine desire to do things the right way and the capital to help us to grow.”

He added, “Steve brings a wealth of experience to Mac Mic Land, as a senior leader and with decades of knowledge of the UK real estate and residential landscape. We are delighted to welcome Steve and John-Rhys to the team.”

Steve has had a successful career as a real estate banker and senior consultant, bringing extensive expertise in real estate and finance, along with a proven track record of strategic leadership. He has worked closely with the Mac Mic Land team since 2025, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the business.

In line with its new focus, Mac Mic Land has also launched a new brand and website, designed to provide a distinctive look while honouring its Mactaggart & Mickel heritage.
