Nottingham Building Society Opens New Branch with Innes England’s Support
Leading commercial property agency Innes England has supported Nottingham Building Society in securing a prime new branch on Clumber Street, one of the city’s busiest retail areas.
The new branch opened in June following an extensive fit-out and sees the team fully relocated from their previous city centre location at Upper Parliament Street. It joins the likes of JD Sports, Lush and Superdrug in the heart of Nottingham’s shopping district.
Innes England first began advising the building society in 2021, supporting a review of its branch network, including lease events and disposals. Following a strategic requirement search for a new head branch in the city centre, the team identified a rare off-market opportunity on Clumber Street. Innes England is also handling the sale of its former site on Upper Parliament Street.
Sam Hall, associate director at Innes England, said:“This was a highly location-sensitive requirement, so identifying an off-market opportunity on Nottingham’s strongest retail pitch was a real win. We negotiated terms with the landlord and instructed solicitors before turning attention to Nottingham’s existing Upper Parliament Street branch.
“Our aim was to secure a buyer for the former site while aligning the timings to avoid operational disruption. We successfully agreed another off-market deal for the sale of the former branch, with a delayed completion to allow for the full fit-out of the Clumber Street location. It was a seamless handover that shows what strong local market knowledge can deliver.”
The new unit has now been fully refurbished and fitted out to create a welcoming and modern banking environment, with the move underlining Nottingham Building Society’s continued investment in its city centre presence.
Prakash Mistry, senior manager – estates and facilities at Nottingham Building Society, said:“Moving to Clumber Street is a big step forward for our branch network and puts us in the heart of the action on one of the city’s busiest retail streets. We’re really pleased with the support from Innes England, who helped make this transition smooth and well-timed. This new location is key to our future growth and long-term commitment to the high street.”
