Pickering’s Cedarbarn Farm Shop, Café and Miniature Railway won the Food and Drink Establishments category of the annual awards that champion family businesses across Yorkshire and Humberside.

Cedarbarn co-founder, Mandy Avison said: “The team is over the moon to have won this award. We always go the extra mile to deliver a delicious experience, whether customers are eating home-produced food in the Café or buying it from the Farm Shop, and it’s fabulous to have our efforts recognised with this award.”

Co-founder and Director of The Family Business Community, Sue Howorth, commented: “Congratulations to all the winners of the Yorkshire and Humberside Family Business Awards 2024; held at The Royal Armouries in Leeds on Friday 22nd of November. On behalf of The Family Business Community, we wish all our winners and finalists continued success. You truly are the lifeblood of your communities!”

Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café beat stiff competition from Elsworth at the Mill, Grassington House, Millers Fish & Chips, Rudding Park, The Balloon Tree Farmshop & Café and
Highfield House to take the award.

Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café began as a PYO strawberries business 26 years ago and now is a thriving farm shop and café that sources a large percentage of its produce from its own and a neighbouring farm supplemented with local suppliers.
