SLR Consulting, a leading global consultancy, has bolstered its South-East built environment team with several key senior appointments aimed at enhancing its service capabilities in London and the surrounding region.
The firm has appointed Shelley Dix as director of transport and mobility planning and London lead, Andrew Munton as planning technical director and London lead, Chris Ellis as principal consultant and London Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) lead, and Colin James as director of masterplanning and urban design. These additions complement the recent appointment of Xavier Brice as director of planning and sustainable infrastructure, further strengthening the team.
Peter Leonard, business lead for London, South-East and East of England, emphasised the significance of these hires: “These appointments represent a significant investment in our London and South-East operations, bringing together a highly experienced team with expertise across transport planning, environmental impact assessment (EIA), masterplanning, urban design and sustainable infrastructure.”
He added, “It’s been fantastic to see this new senior group embrace a collaborative culture from day one, offering a first class one-stop built environment consultancy service. By working across disciplines to share expertise, strengthen client relationships and identify opportunities, they are helping us deliver more integrated solutions for clients. This approach reflects SLR’s wider multidisciplinary model and UK growth strategy, enabling clients to access a broad range of technical services through a single team.”
Shelley Dix brings over 26 years of experience in transport and development planning to her role leading SLR’s London transport and mobility planning capability. She will work closely with colleagues across the business and contribute to a national transport and mobility team comprising more than 100 specialists.
On her appointment, Shelley said: “Transport and mobility planning plays a vital role in shaping successful developments, and I’m excited to be joining SLR as we continue to strengthen our transport and mobility planning offering. By working closely with colleagues across planning, environmental and sustainability disciplines, we can help clients navigate complex development challenges and deliver places that are accessible, sustainable and commercially successful, while always focusing on what is right for the client. This integrated approach is essential across all sectors, ensuring we balance community needs with environmental and commercial considerations.”
Chris Ellis, appointed as London EIA lead, brings extensive experience in environmental assessment for large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, including brownfield and greenfield sites, strategic masterplanning projects, and data centre schemes. He will collaborate with specialists across the business to expand SLR’s EIA services and provide integrated solutions throughout the development process.
Chris commented: “My experience across major development projects has shown that the best results come from a collaborative cross-team approach. At SLR, there is a real opportunity to grow our EIA presence, strengthen client relationships and provide a more complete environmental offering through our integrated approach. The calibre of people joining the team and the collaborative culture we’re building create a real springboard for future growth.”
Peter Leonard concluded: “As demand for multidisciplinary expertise continues to grow across planning and development, our strengthened London and South-East team is exceptionally positioned to help clients solve their challenges, from concept through to delivery, both regionally and across the UK.”
