Terrys Fabrics Launches Bold 1970s-Inspired ANTE Décor Retro Collection

Terrys Fabrics, a British homeware retailer, has introduced the ANTE Décor Retro Collection, a new range of fabrics that draws heavily on the vibrant style of the 1970s. The collection celebrates the decade’s distinctive character through vivid colours, geometric patterns, and striking graphics designed to make a strong visual impact in modern interiors.

Comprising 15 fabrics across three distinct designs named Mercury, Bowie, and Elton, the collection is offered in made-to-measure curtains, roman blinds, and fabric by the metre. Gareth Coxall, Creative Director at Terrys Fabrics, explained the collection’s intent: “The Retro Collection is all about bringing character back into the home. These are fabrics that are designed to be noticed and the bold patterns, punchy colours and playful references to the 1970s can completely change the mood of a room.”

Coxall emphasised affordability as a key feature, stating, “What makes the collection particularly exciting is that statement design doesn’t have to come with a statement price tag. We wanted to make it easy for people to experiment with something bolder and more expressive, whether that’s through curtains, blinds or cushions, and bring a real sense of vibrancy into their homes without spending a fortune.”

He added, “Retro interiors should feel fun rather than intimidating, and this collection gives people an affordable way to embrace colour, pattern and a little bit of seventies showmanship.”

The Bowie design stands out as the collection’s most eye-catching option. It features an oversized retro daisy motif that captures the confident and playful spirit of its namesake, intended to transform curtains or blinds into a focal point with a burst of 1970s flower power.

Elton offers a more structured take on retro aesthetics, with a repeating horizontal geometric pattern that establishes rhythm and balance. Its crisp lines and vivid colours provide a graphic edge that introduces personality to a room while maintaining a polished appearance.

Mercury presents a subtler interpretation of the era’s style, characterised by flowing oval shapes inspired by the organic curves typical of 1970s design. Positioned between a pattern and a semi-plain, Mercury adds movement and understated retro flair without overwhelming a space, making it suitable for those seeking a quieter nod to the decade.

The ANTE Décor Retro 2 Collection is now available through Terrys Fabrics, with prices starting at £12.99.
