Total Clean Air Partners with TOMI Environmental Solutions to Enhance Bio-Decontamination in Europe

SteraMist® ionised Hydrogen Peroxide technology used for bio-decontamination of cleanrooms and controlled environments.

Total Clean Air, a cleanroom engineering company based in Somerset and accredited by UKAS ISO 17025, has been appointed as the European partner for TOMI® Environmental Solutions, a US-based firm specialising in decontamination technology.

The collaboration focuses on TOMI’s SteraMist® ionised Hydrogen Peroxide (iHP®) technology, which offers rapid bio-decontamination solutions for cleanrooms, isolators, and other controlled environments. This technology is essential for organisations striving to maintain sterile conditions in manufacturing and laboratory settings.

This partnership merges TOMI’s advanced decontamination technology with Total Clean Air’s extensive expertise in cleanroom design, construction, and validation. It enables the implementation of integrated contamination control solutions tailored for regulated environments. Under the agreement, Total Clean Air will distribute TOMI’s SteraMist® bio-decontamination technology throughout the UK and the European Union.

Founded in 2018, Total Clean Air has successfully designed and delivered over 200 cleanrooms both in the UK and internationally, catering to organisations in highly regulated sectors. The partnership marks a significant milestone in TCA’s growth trajectory within the controlled environments sector, with the company reporting a 30% increase in turnover year-on-year over the past 12 months.

The collaboration is timely, as demand for advanced contamination control technologies is surging across the life sciences sector. Areas such as infection control, bioburden testing, and sterility testing are witnessing robust growth, driven by stricter regulatory requirements and heightened infection control measures in pharmaceutical, hospital, and laboratory environments. The UK sterility testing market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 14% through to 2035.

As TOMI’s Preferred Partner for the UK and the European Union, Total Clean Air will support organisations in various fields, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, medical devices, defence, space, and specialist laboratory environments. This partnership also aligns with the recent updates to EU GMP Annex 1 regulations, which emphasise the importance of contamination control strategies and validated decontamination processes in sterile manufacturing.

Total Clean Air will serve as the primary contact for customers in these sectors, providing equipment, services, and consumables from its headquarters in Street, Somerset. A new demonstration and trial programme will enable organisations to assess the SteraMist technology through hands-on testing, with systems available for rapid deployment to customer sites across Europe.

This agreement not only enhances TOMI’s presence in Europe but also expands Total Clean Air’s bio-decontamination capabilities within the rapidly growing life sciences manufacturing sector.

Phillip Godden, Chief Executive Officer of Total Clean Air, expressed pride in representing TOMI as their Preferred European Partner, stating, “SteraMist iHP is a highly effective decontamination solution for the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. By combining our service infrastructure with TOMI’s technology, we can deliver a turnkey solution that supports GMP Annex 1 compliance and addresses some of the most demanding decontamination challenges.”

Elissa J. (E.J.) Shane, Chief Operating Officer of TOMI, commented, “We are pleased to appoint Total Clean Air as our Preferred European Partner. Their deep technical proficiency in controlled environments perfectly complements the speed and efficacy of our innovative SteraMist iHP technology. Together, we are setting a new benchmark for automated and mobile decontamination across the European life sciences sector, providing customers with unparalleled local support and validated results.”
