The cult-favourite burger joint, crowned the UK’s Best Burger in 2023, has set its sights on Cambridge with new city centre restaurant and up to 50 new jobs.

The Beefy Boys, recognised as the UK’s Best Burger in 2023, are expanding their presence with a new restaurant in Cambridge, set to open this winter. The independent burger brand will occupy the former BrewDog premises at 15 Bene’t Street, marking their most easterly location to date.

Founded in 2011 by childhood friends Anthony ‘Murf’ Murphy, Daniel Mayo-Evans, Christian Williams, and Lee Symonds, The Beefy Boys first gained international attention after finishing second at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas in 2014. They further solidified their reputation by securing fourth place at the 2024 championships in Indianapolis.

The Cambridge restaurant will join the company’s existing portfolio, which includes sites in Hereford, Shrewsbury, Cheltenham, Bath, Oxford, Nottingham, and Exeter, as well as two mobile food trucks that serve events nationwide.

Co-founder Anthony ‘Murf’ Murphy commented on the new venture: “Cambridge has an exciting and diverse food scene, and it’s been one to watch for us for some time. We’ve been eyeing it up and when the former BrewDog site became available, we knew the time was right. We’re incredibly proud of how far The Beefy Boys has come. Just over ten years ago we were cooking burgers in our back gardens, and now we are opening our eighth restaurant. We can’t wait to bring what we do to Cambridge and become a part of the local community.”

The new city centre venue will offer The Beefy Boys’ signature dishes, including the classic Beefy Boy Burger and the award-winning Oklahoma Onion Boy Cali Style burger. The menu will also feature loaded fries, buffalo wings, vegetarian and vegan options, a variety of sides, and the brand’s well-known hard shakes.

Committed to quality and local sourcing, The Beefy Boys use 100% grass-fed beef from their hometown in Herefordshire and support local suppliers wherever possible. Their bold flavours and distinctive personality have earned them a dedicated customer base.

Recruitment for the Cambridge restaurant is currently underway, with up to 50 new jobs expected to be created. The company is looking for enthusiastic, food-loving staff to join their team. Interested applicants can find job listings at https://jobs.thebeefyboys.com/.

Further information regarding the official opening date and opportunities for local diners to be among the first to experience the new restaurant will be announced shortly.
