Bromley Yard to Launch New Creative Hub with Over 250 Affordable Spaces in Manchester

Manchester is set to welcome a significant boost to its creative sector with the opening of Bromley Yard, a new container village offering more than 250 affordable studios, workshops, and business spaces. The first phase, featuring over 90 studios and commercial units, will open this September, with the full site launching on 14th October 2026.

Designed to support the city’s diverse creative community, Bromley Yard will provide a dedicated environment for artists, makers, musicians, designers, retailers, and small independent businesses. The development aims to address the growing challenge of securing affordable workspaces in Manchester.

In addition to creative studios, Bromley Yard will feature a food court intended to attract food and drink enterprises, including independent traders, street food vendors, coffee shops, and other hospitality concepts. This element is expected to enhance the site’s appeal as a social and cultural destination for the public.

The project is being delivered by Meanwhile Creative, an organisation that currently manages over 1,500 studios across locations in Bristol, Manchester, Cardiff, and Norwich. Bromley Yard will incorporate a variety of unit types, including 20ft and 40ft containers, Lock Up Studios, music spaces, workshops, retail outlets, and flexible units designed to accommodate a broad spectrum of creative and independent uses.

A spokesperson for Meanwhile Creative commented: “Manchester has an incredible creative community, but finding somewhere affordable to make, work and grow can be a real challenge. Bromley Yard is about changing that. We’re getting closer to opening the doors now, and we’ve had an incredible response. It’s brilliant to see the site coming to life and we can’t wait to see what Manchester’s creatives do with it and, of course, what they eat and drink while they’re here.”

Applications for studios, business spaces, and food and beverage opportunities at Bromley Yard are currently open as the site prepares for its official opening later this year.
