Dalcour Maclaren, a consultancy specialising in utilities and infrastructure, has secured certification as a B Corporation, joining a worldwide network of companies dedicated to redefining business success to benefit society and the environment. This certification, verified by B Lab—the non-profit organisation behind the B Corp movement—confirms that Dalcour Maclaren meets rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability, alongside a pledge to pursue objectives beyond mere shareholder profit.

The certification process involved a comprehensive evaluation of the company’s operations, focusing on governance, workforce, community engagement, environmental impact, and customer relations. This achievement comes amid escalating challenges posed by climate change and growing social inequality.

To attain B Corp status, Dalcour Maclaren underwent an extensive assessment requiring detailed evidence across multiple domains, including environmental stewardship, social responsibility, employee wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, governance, and transparency. Additionally, the company has formally incorporated its commitment to balancing purpose with profit into its articles of association.

James Neil, Chief Executive Officer of Dalcour Maclaren, commented: “This is a fantastic achievement for Dalcour Maclaren. B Corp status gives us the official badge that recognises everything that matters most to us in our culture, our values, and how we make decisions for our people and our clients. We thrive on doing things differently at DM and B Corp absolutely endorses this.”

By joining the B Corp community, Dalcour Maclaren becomes part of a global collective of over 10,000 certified companies spanning more than 100 countries and 160 industries. In the UK, this movement is the largest and fastest-growing, with over 2,600 certified businesses including notable names such as The Guardian, Innocent Drinks, Patagonia, Tony’s Chocolonely, The Big Issue, Finisterre, Elemis, and Sipsmith Gin.

Chris Turner, CEO of B Lab UK, stated: “Welcoming Dalcour Maclaren to the B Corp community is hugely exciting. Its commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and will help spread the notion that success in business is as much about people and planet as it is profit.”

Francesca Herratt, Chief Financial Officer at Dalcour Maclaren, added: “Achieving B Corp certification is a proud moment for us. We believe that business has a responsibility to create positive outcomes for people, communities and the environment alongside commercial success. While we are proud to have reached this point, B Corp is ultimately about continuous improvement, and we look forward to building on this achievement in the years ahead.”
