Eversheds Sutherland Secures New Birmingham Offices at Three Chamberlain Square Ahead of 2027 Move

Countdown to Paradise begins: Eversheds Sutherland takes possession of new Birmingham home

Eversheds Sutherland has officially taken possession of its new offices at Three Chamberlain Square in Birmingham, marking the start of preparations for its relocation planned for summer 2027.

The global law firm will transfer its 500-strong Birmingham workforce to two floors within the award-winning building, reinforcing its century-long ties to the city. The new premises are designed to foster collaboration, wellbeing, and enhance client experience through a future-focused workplace environment.

Three Chamberlain Square, situated within the Paradise estate in Birmingham city centre, is recognised as one of the city’s most sustainable commercial office buildings. Designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and constructed by Sir Robert McAlpine, the 189,000 sq ft development has achieved prestigious sustainability certifications including BREEAM Outstanding, NABERS 5-Star, ActiveScore, and WiredScore Platinum.

The building was fully let shortly after its practical completion in summer 2025 and currently hosts tenants such as CBRE and Forvis Mazars, with EY in the process of fitting out its space. The development exemplifies the commitment of Paradise and Federated Hermes MEPC to delivering innovative low-carbon commercial spaces in Birmingham.

Emma King, Senior Office Partner for Eversheds Sutherland in Birmingham, commented: “Taking possession of our new premises at Three Chamberlain Square is a genuinely exciting moment for us. Birmingham has been at the heart of our story for more than a century, and this move reflects our confidence in the city and our ambition for the future here.

“We are creating a space that brings our people together, supports flexible ways of working and offers clients a welcome that reflects who we are as a firm. It also aligns with our sustainability commitments and will be a workplace our people can be proud of.

“The countdown to 2027 starts now, and we’re looking forward to bringing our Birmingham team into an exceptional new environment in the centre of one of the UK’s most dynamic business communities.”

Rob Bullough, Chief Workplace Officer at Eversheds Sutherland, added: “Our approach for Three Chamberlain Square mirrors a broader premises strategy that we’re taking across our global portfolio: investing in workplaces that are thoughtfully designed, right-sized for the future and create engaging, productive environments for our people.

“We’re focused on creating spaces which enhance collaboration and deliver a client experience that truly reflects who we are as a firm. Alongside a number of projects we’re delivering around the world, Birmingham is an important part of that journey, helping us create a consistent workplace experience globally, whilst retaining a strong character and identity locally.”

Ross Fittall, Commercial Development Director at MEPC, the developer and asset manager behind Paradise and Three Chamberlain Square, said: “This marks an important milestone for Three Chamberlain Square and Paradise as we hand over the final two floors of office space to Eversheds Sutherland to create a highly sustainable and engaging workplace as part of its ongoing local and global investment in its people and clients.

“At Paradise and Three Chamberlain Square, it will benefit from a world-class destination in the heart of the city, where like-minded organisations come together within a thriving business ecosystem, complemented by outstanding connectivity and amenities on the doorstep.”

The Birmingham relocation forms part of Eversheds Sutherland’s wider investment in its international office network, ensuring that its workplaces continue to support colleagues, clients, and the communities in which it operates.

As the firm begins work on transforming the space, it aims to complete the move by summer 2027.

Earlier this year, Eversheds Sutherland (International) announced 25 partner promotions, including five lawyers based in the Midlands. The promoted partners were Thomas Plant and Rob Worsfold (both Corporate, Birmingham), James Ellis (Pensions, Birmingham), Ray Hetherington (Construction, Birmingham), and Lisa Highet (Commercial, Nottingham), highlighting the firm’s ongoing commitment to its UK regional practices.
