York Designer Outlet Launches New Inclusive Playground With Sustainable Features

Playdale

York’s latest playground, manufactured by play equipment company, Playdale Playgrounds, has gone down a treat with children and shoppers alike, seeing increased use all winter long as parents flock to Christmas shopping.

The new playground, which features sustainable timber climbing frames, complete with slides, swings, inclusive equipment and more, has been designed for the east entrance of York Designer Outlet – making it a prime location for children to get much-needed exercise in the winter.

Paul Tyler, Centre Manager at York Designer Outlet, had this to say about the uptick in playground usage during the winter:

“Our brand-new covered play area, refurbished by Playdale Playgrounds, is proving hugely popular with our younger guests.  Along with all the classic favourites, including swings, tunnels and slides, our new play area has also been fitted with inclusive play equipment, making it even more accessible for our young customers.”

York Designer Outlet reports first-hand comments from parents, with shoppers claiming the new facilities are a “much-improved family play area,” and that it’s “…been thoroughly enjoyed by my children, the roundabout being a great new edition”, and a “huge hit with my little ones.”

Paul Tyler further added, “It was great to work with the team on the new play area concept. The designer outlet sits within 60 acres of green belt, so we wanted the new play area to reflect that look and feel,” he explains. “Together we designed something that was in keeping with those surroundings: earthy colours, lots of greens, browns and a natural wooden feel. We are delighted by the end result and hope our young customers enjoy it for years to come.

Barry Leahey, President of Playdale Playgrounds, had this to say about the project:

“It’s fantastic to see the new playground thriving, particularly as winter often limits children’s opportunities to stay active. By working closely with York Designer Outlet, we’ve created a space that not only blends naturally with its surroundings but also encourages movement, imagination and inclusive play all year round. We’re thrilled to see young visitors embracing it, despite the colder weather.”
