Hyphen, the multinational architectural advisory firm, has significantly advanced its international expansion by rapidly growing its Mumbai office. Established just five months ago, the Mumbai team has already expanded to include ten architectural professionals, with plans to increase the workforce by 50% before the year ends.
This development marks a key phase in Hyphen’s long-term strategy to broaden its global presence. The Mumbai operation enhances the practice’s capacity to serve clients across Europe, Australia, Latin America, and emerging markets, reflecting ongoing investments in personnel and technical expertise.
Heading the Mumbai office is Bhavna Muttreja Jain, a seasoned architect with over 17 years of international experience spanning India, Malaysia, Canada, and the United States. Bhavna’s leadership aims to tap into one of the world’s largest pools of architectural and technical talent, establishing a foundation for future growth throughout India and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
Bhavna’s portfolio includes complex projects in residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, and healthcare sectors. She holds the LEED Green Associate credential and serves as Regional Lead for Women in BIM India. In 2025, she was honoured with the Real Woman Award and the NAREDCO MAHI ‘Empower Her Excellence Award’ for her contributions to the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry and her advocacy for gender equity in the built environment.
As an integrated international practice, Hyphen’s Mumbai team collaborates closely with colleagues across Europe, Australia, and Latin America to uphold the highest architectural standards. The team collectively brings 75 years of experience in international architecture projects and participates in professional development programmes to align with the firm’s established processes, Building Information Modelling (BIM) standards, and quality assurance protocols.
For Hyphen’s clients, the expanded global footprint offers enhanced access to design and architectural expertise, increased project resilience, and greater capacity to manage complex commissions worldwide. Additionally, the presence across multiple time zones extends the collaborative working day.
Bhavna Muttreja Jain, Head of India at Hyphen, stated: “The growth of our Mumbai team demonstrates both the strength of the talent available in India and Hyphen’s commitment to investing in people and long-term capability. From day one, our focus has been on building a high-quality team that shares the same architectural standards, collaborative culture and client-first approach that defines Hyphen.
“We’re building an integrated international team where colleagues collaborate seamlessly across borders, bringing together diverse expertise and perspectives to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.”
Eva Diego, CEO of Hyphen, commented: “India represents an important step in our international growth strategy. Our expansion into Latin America marked the important first step; India now adds the missing piece in the puzzle; providing a strong platform for growth across the Asia Pacific region. The success of the Mumbai team in such a short period reflects both the calibre of the professionals we’ve recruited and the significant opportunities we see for the future.
“Our investment in Mumbai is about strengthening our capability, advising our clients and creating opportunities for talented architectural professionals to develop within a truly international practice. As we continue to grow, maintaining technical excellence and design quality remains our absolute priority.”
With further recruitment planned in the coming months, Hyphen believes its international model offers a robust platform for future growth, delivering increased capacity, resilience, and relevant expertise for clients worldwide.
Hyphen comprises over 250 design and architectural advisors working with real estate developers, asset owners, and investors across the UK, Europe, Latin America, and beyond. The firm supports complex projects in luxury retail, hospitality, workplace, logistics, and digital infrastructure, emphasising quality, integrity, and reliable delivery.
