OP, a leading office interior design consultancy, has finalised the fit-out of CBRE’s new office located at 3 Chamberlain Square in Paradise Birmingham. The workspace covers 16,549 square feet within one of the city’s most architecturally notable new buildings.

Following CBRE’s decision to move from their previous premises at Temple Row, OP guided the company through the entire process, from initial site evaluation to design and delivery. The interior design draws significant inspiration from the building’s distinctive architectural features, including its red terracotta façade, fluted cladding, and signature OGEE arches. These elements are reinterpreted inside the office, with terracotta hues, arched shapes, and tactile materials creating a seamless visual link between the exterior and interior, establishing a strong sense of place that resonates with Birmingham’s character.

The design embeds CBRE’s workplace philosophy firmly within the context of Birmingham, producing a space that is both grounded and uniquely tailored to the city and the building itself. The office includes nine meeting rooms, three focus rooms designed for two people, eight call pods, and a dedicated Clientology client engagement area featuring carefully planned sightlines across Chamberlain Square. Employee wellbeing is prioritised with amenities such as a Parents’ Room and a separate wellness room.

Sustainability plays a central role in the project’s design narrative. Notable sustainable features include sculptural trees 3D printed from HS2 clay, an Altrock reception desk crafted from reclaimed waste marble, a bespoke terrazzo worktop made from reclaimed Birmingham materials, and cork flooring. The material palette is completed with recycled leather, Impact Cotton acoustic panels, and cradle-to-cradle certified carpet tiles. Additionally, most of CBRE’s existing furniture was retained, refurbished, and reintegrated, significantly reducing the embodied carbon footprint of the fit-out. Bespoke signage throughout the office explains the story behind each design element, providing staff and visitors with a tangible connection to the space’s concept.

The building itself holds BREEAM Excellent and WELL certifications and is the first in Birmingham to achieve a NABERS UK 5 Star Design Reviewed Target Rating.

Claire Stant, Creative Designer at OP, commented: “Our vision was to create a workspace that feels genuinely of Birmingham – drawing on the architecture of the building, the character of the city, and the culture of the people within it. We’re incredibly proud of what this project has become.”

Will Ventham, Head of Midlands at CBRE Birmingham, added: “The new office has truly exceeded our expectations. OP have created a space that feels like a genuine reflection of both Birmingham and our business – full of thoughtful details that our team have really connected with. The feedback from staff and visitors alike has been overwhelmingly positive and we couldn’t be prouder of the result.”
