Scotbuild, a multi-trades construction firm, has announced its rebranding to SB Services alongside the launch of a new Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) division. This new division will integrate with the established electrical services business formerly known as Calder Electrical, adopting the SB Services brand. It will operate in conjunction with the company’s joinery, plumbing, and decorating departments to provide a comprehensive multi-trade solution across commercial, industrial, energy, and residential sectors.
Both Scotbuild and Calder Electrical, Highland-based service companies, were acquired by Global, a leading UK energy and infrastructure solutions provider, earlier in 2024. This acquisition aimed to enhance Global’s construction and building services portfolio. Daniel Cormack was appointed Managing Director at that time to lead the company’s expansion.
Commenting on the rebrand and the new M&E focus, Cormack said: “This is an exciting milestone for the business which is now unified under one brand. The launch of SB Services and our new Mechanical division strengthens our ability to deliver larger and more complex projects across the North of Scotland. We’ve built a strong team with the right experience, accreditations and local presence and we’re looking forward to continuing that growth with both existing and new clients.”
To support growth in the new division, SB Services has appointed Paul Richardson as Mechanical Operations Manager and John MacPherson as Compliance and Technical Manager. Together, they bring over 60 years of combined experience in the M&E sector.
Daniel highlighted the significance of these appointments, stating: “We’re delighted to launch our new M&E division and unveil Paul and John as two key appointments, these vastly experienced leaders in the Mechanical & Electrical field strengthens our existing capability in this area and establishes us as a truly integrated services provider.”
He added: “The creation of this new division is a strategic step that complements our existing electrical and plumbing and heating capabilities, enhancing our position as an integrated MEP services provider. SB Services M&E division will deliver a comprehensive suite of MEP services across the Commercial, Industrial, Energy and Residential sectors.”
Paul Richardson expressed enthusiasm about joining SB Services, saying: “I’m delighted to be joining SB Services at such an exciting stage in the company’s growth. There is a clear vision for building a strong, fully integrated MEP offering across the North of Scotland, and I’m looking forward to helping develop the Mechanical division alongside the wider team.”
He also noted: “The business already has an excellent reputation for quality, reliability and client service and the addition of dedicated Mechanical capability creates significant opportunities across the commercial, industrial, energy and residential sectors.”
In addition to the M&E appointments, SB Services has named Chris Ogg as Operations Manager. Chris brings extensive operational and project delivery expertise and will be instrumental in supporting the company’s ongoing expansion.
Daniel Cormack commented on Chris’s appointment: “Chris is a fantastic addition to the business and brings a wealth of operational experience, strong leadership and a practical understanding of project delivery. As SB Services continues to grow, it’s important that we continue investing in the right people and structures to support that growth. Chris will play a key role in helping drive operational performance, supporting our teams on the ground and ensuring we continue to deliver the high standards of service our clients expect from us.”
