Victory Colours, a British paint manufacturer, has announced Pepper Tree Green as its Colour of the Year for 2027. The brand anticipates that this deep, earthy green will resonate with homeowners seeking richer and more characterful interior spaces.
Originating from Victory Colours’ existing palette, Pepper Tree Green is a sophisticated dark green shade that offers a balance between dramatic impact and a strong connection to nature. The colour adds warmth and depth to interiors without overwhelming, maintaining the calming qualities that have made green a popular choice in UK homes.
Looking ahead to 2027, Victory Colours predicts a shift away from the cooler, paler, and more uniform interior trends that have prevailed recently. Instead, there will be a move towards warmer, more expressive decorating styles featuring earthy tones, natural materials, and richer colours that create personal and comfortable living environments. While soft sage greens have become a common alternative to neutrals, the company expects deeper, more confident greens like Pepper Tree Green to take prominence. This shade offers a natural progression for those ready to incorporate stronger colours without the risk of harshness.

There is a real desire for rooms that feel grounded, reassuring and connected to nature, but at the same time we are becoming more confident with colour. Pepper Tree has that wonderful balance, it makes an impact, but it also feels incredibly comforting.”
Versatility was a key consideration in selecting Pepper Tree Green. It can serve as an enveloping backdrop on all four walls in living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms, while in kitchens and hallways it provides sufficient depth to establish a distinct identity. The shade’s complex pigments also interact with natural light, subtly changing its appearance throughout the day.
Victoria added: “For a long time, many of us played quite safe with our walls and added personality through furniture and accessories. That is changing. People are realising that the wall colour itself can completely transform the atmosphere of a room. Pepper Tree is bold enough to create that transformation, but because green is so familiar from the landscape around us, it never feels alien or intimidating.”
The colour complements materials expected to define tactile interiors, such as natural timber, stone, linen, and aged metals. For softer colour schemes, Victory Colours suggests pairing Pepper Tree Green with warm off-whites, blush pinks, and muted rose tones. Crisp white woodwork can provide a sharper, more traditional contrast.
