Wavertree Town Hall, a historic landmark on Wavertree High Street in Liverpool, will reopen its doors on Friday, 17th April, following a six-month closure. The venue has been revitalised under new ownership, with one of Liverpool’s most seasoned leisure group operators taking the helm.

This Grade II listed building, designed by local architect John Elliot Reeve in a neoclassical style, has served the community for over 150 years. Originally completed in 1872, it was once the offices of the Wavertree local board of health and has retained its original features, showcasing its regal charm.

The Town Hall will operate across three distinct areas. The front section has been transformed into a cosy traditional pub, offering hearty dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, including steak and ale pie and scouse. This area is designed to provide a relaxed atmosphere, complete with an open fire and no televisions.

In contrast, the larger back bar will cater to sports enthusiasts, featuring two dart boards and broadcasting all major live sporting events. Sundays will be particularly special, as both ground floor spaces will serve Sunday Lunch.

The upstairs Function Lounge, the largest area of the venue, boasts a capacity of around 100 and is ideal for private events such as parties, christenings, and presentations.

Nicola Halton, Business Development Manager for the Harrison Group, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We have truly enjoyed bringing this fantastic building back to life over the last few months. Wavertree Town Hall is a stunning landmark and being given the chance to serve as its custodians is a real privilege. Sitting right in the heart of Wavertree, this Grade II listed Victorian building is being restored for the local community – a project our entire team is incredibly proud of. We believe we’ve created something special with the new look Town Hall and hope our customers feel the same.”

The reopening has also led to the creation of approximately 20 new full and part-time jobs within the Liverpool hospitality sector. Additionally, the venue will showcase artwork by renowned local street artist Paul Curtis, who has painted a mural of George Harrison, celebrating the birthplace of the famous Beatle. The mural features George, his home, the Picton Clock, and Wavertree Town Hall itself.
