Zimmer + Rohde Reveals Redesigned London Showroom Inspired by British Architectural Heritage

Zimmer + Rohde has unveiled its newly renovated showroom at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour in London following a comprehensive refurbishment. The redesign, led by London-based interior designer Theresa Obermoser, draws heavily on Britain’s architectural legacy while presenting a modern take on comfort, materials, and textile design.

The London showroom has long served as a pivotal destination for interior designers, decorators, and architects throughout the UK. The transformation elevates the space beyond a conventional showroom, creating an immersive environment that vividly brings the Zimmer + Rohde brand to life.

Obermoser took inspiration from London’s history and the distinctive character of its Victorian townhouses, reinterpreting classical architectural features through a contemporary lens. The interior combines soft colour palettes, tactile surfaces, warm materials, and carefully selected textiles to achieve a balance between timeless elegance and modern comfort. Obermoser explained, “The intention was not so much to respond to the architecture of the building itself, but rather to enter into a dialogue with British history.”

Throughout the showroom, textiles are treated as architectural elements. Draped fabrics, space-defining curtains, curated material displays, and bespoke areas guide visitors through Zimmer + Rohde’s collections and their diverse applications. This approach creates an immersive brand experience that blends inspiration, consultation, and creative exchange.

More than a display for textile collections, the redesigned showroom functions as a hub for inspiration, collaboration, and client engagement. Visitors can experience Zimmer + Rohde’s fabrics and materials within a residential-style setting, allowing them to understand how textiles influence interior spaces and shape their character. The interplay of architecture, materiality, and textiles delivers a sensory experience that embodies the brand’s essence while facilitating personal consultation and creative interaction.

Jacob Sloth, CEO of Zimmer + Rohde, highlighted the showroom’s strategic importance: “The UK, and metropolitan London in particular, is a strategic client hub for us and one of the most important meeting points for the design and specifier community. With the redesign of our showroom, we wanted to create a space that showcases our textile expertise while fostering connection, inspiration and creative exchange. The new concept is a vision and representation of our brand’s magical world, curated for Britain’s cultural and design heritage, creating a unique experience for our clients and partners from all over the world.”

The refurbishment also reimagined consultation spaces, meeting rooms, and work areas, resulting in an open and welcoming environment that encourages dialogue with clients and partners. The design reflects Zimmer + Rohde’s core values of quality, craftsmanship, and design expertise.

By reopening its London showroom, Zimmer + Rohde reaffirms its long-standing commitment to the British market and signals its future trajectory within the global interior design sector. The showroom is now open to trade professionals at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour.
