North Wales Entrepreneur Expands Business Footprint Fourfold with Combined Renewable Energy and Leisure Venture

In a significant development in St Asaph, Gareth Jones has consolidated two acclaimed North Wales businesses, Carbon Zero Renewables and UK Leisure Living, into a single 24,000 sq ft facility at Caer Delyn Buildings on Glascoed Road. This new site is quadruple the size of their previous premises in Mochdre and Colwyn Bay, enabling substantial growth for both companies.

The expanded premises feature modern offices, a customer suite, and a retail outlet, complemented by a spacious, well-lit showroom displaying hot tubs, swim spas, and infrared saunas. UK Leisure Living, which has sold over 3,000 hot tubs in the past ten years, has broadened its services to include swimming pool installation, offering a comprehensive package from design and installation to landscaping and aftercare.

Meanwhile, Carbon Zero Renewables continues to advance its domestic and commercial renewable energy solutions, specialising in solar and battery installations that help clients significantly reduce energy costs while enhancing sustainability.

Approaching 18 years in business and serving as a Director of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), Gareth described the merger as a positive strategic move. “It’s been a really good move for us, and it comes as there is a real upward trajectory and momentum across both businesses,” he said.

He acknowledged the challenges faced in recent years due to geopolitical tensions, rising costs, and fluctuating consumer confidence, noting that their industries were not exempt from these pressures. “But we kept moving forward, diversifying and investing, and now we have two complementary, award-winning companies together in one fantastic location,” Gareth added.

Gareth emphasised the advantages of the St Asaph location, highlighting its central position in North Wales, excellent access and parking, and ample space to enhance customer experience. Carbon Zero Renewables has completed projects for clients including Mostyn Estates, Techniquest in Cardiff, Palins, Salisbury & Co Accountants, and the Waterloo Hotel in Betws-y-Coed, alongside numerous residential installations across the region and beyond.

He noted that the financial benefits experienced by customers have been a driving force behind the group’s progress. The integration of the two businesses also offers commercial synergies, as many services overlap. “The landscape has changed and we’ve changed with it,” Gareth said.

He explained that customers increasingly seek turnkey solutions. “With UK Leisure Living we can take somebody from their first conversation about a swimming pool, hot tub, swim spa or sauna right through the whole process, including the landscaping and finishing touches. Then we have all that renewable energy experience within Carbon Zero, so there are plenty of opportunities for the two businesses to work together.” Gareth credited the strength of the team as a key factor in his optimism for the future.

Having amassed numerous industry awards over nearly two decades in construction, renewable energy, and leisure sectors, Gareth is also known for founding the popular Supercar Sunday events in Llandudno and maintaining strong ties with the construction industry through his FMB involvement.

Looking ahead, Gareth has labelled the next phase “Project Growth,” with plans for further investment at Glascoed Road and a renewed commercial drive leading up to 2027. “We can utilise the space here even better and there are a lot of opportunities,” he said. “We have plenty of ideas about what comes next, so watch this space. It’s an exciting time for both businesses and I can see 2027 being a very good year for us.”
